This page lists all the free NLP techniques, exercises, and lessons currently on PlanetNLP.com. If this is a little overwhelming then you may prefer to start with my free NLP course, which provides a bit more structure to the many skills and techniques you need to learn to truly master NLP.
I have developed the following NLP Lessons in order to allow you to learn the basic elements of NLP to use NLP on yourself. Hopefully these lessons will make the process of learning NLP easier.

These free NLP techniques provide the foundation for working with other people using NLP or Hypnosis. As in many areas of life, practice makes perfect. It's a good idea to choose a technique and practice it thoroughly. While it is easier to learn the skills individually, the long term goal is to develop the ability to blend them all together. Eventually you will find that you are able to use these techniques automatically.
In NLP, Eye Accessing cues are one of the more controversial subjects - simply because for every NLP practitioner who believes they are a useful tool, there is someone who doesn't believe they work at all.
Install any strategy by learning a simple method for installing a motivation strategy.
NLP Modeling, whilst at the heart of NLP, seems to be a skill that many NLP practitioners don’t really have a good grasp of.
Anchoring is the most powerful way to control someones state. Learn various techniques to build and anchor powerful states.
Rapport is simply about increasing the number of similarities between yourself and a client to allow them to relax and feel that you are like them. So how do you achieve this?

To get to the heart of any problem you have to ask the right questions - the Meta Model gives you the structure with which to achieve this.
Language Patterns are central to working with clients and for all NLP persuasion techniques.
Use all five senses to improve your communication, increase your rapport, and improve you likeability!
Some people consider the milton model to be the inverse of the meta model. Where as the meta model is about using questions to discover the clients world model, the meta model is a way to be artfully vague and hypnotic.

The following NLP exercises can be used by yourself or can be used with clients. They are mostly based around submodalities which are covered in the NLP Submodalities - Change your Reality Lesson. These kind of exercises are the bread and butter of many NLP Practitioners toolbox.
Start with your BeliefsShow more
Beliefs underlay many issues that people have. To attempt to resolve an issue such as social phobia or motivation without dealing with the beliefs related to that problem is foolhardy. The following NLP exercises can be used when dealing with any issue to create the right belief structure before working on the issue directly. By destroying any limiting beliefs and generating a few positive ones, many issues will be much easier to resolve.
General NLP Exercises
It's important to understand these exercises before working through them. Most of these exercises are based upon submodalities and build on the areas covered in the NLP Submodalities - Change your Reality Lesson.
Change the way you feel whenever you remember an uncomfortable memory.
Have you ever had one of those situations where you want to do something, but some little voice in your head tells you: "you're not good enough" or "they won't like you"?
Whether you are a compulsive eater, smoker, or just someone who wants to control a habit, then the NLP Compulsion Blowout is the exercise for you.
Replace the unresourceful representations that gets in they way of you achieving what you want, with more resourceful ones.
Stop thinking about those unpleasant memories that force their way into your consciousness and never feel bad about them again.
Motivate yourself to perform particular activities or engage in particular behaviors and get things done!

One of the oldest NLP techniques, NLP Reframing is still a commonly used and useful NLP technique.

Timelines are a very common element in NLP. A Timeline is simply the way in which we internally layout events from our past and future so that we can organize them. Discovering your own time line shows you how to discover your own timeline prior to working with these exercises.
There are a couple of other skills required to perform these exercises optimally. Read Create Powerful Anchors using NLP and NLP states so that you can create the strong states and anchors required by these exercises.
These exercises, while not strictly NLP exercises are ones that I have found useful over the years.
As well as being a good general NLP Self Hypnosis method, Betty Erickson's method is great for anyone who has trouble sleeping.
When you improve your tone of voice, you will discover how easy it is to get people to respond to you in a positive way.
