Free NLP Techniques, Exercises and Lessons

This page lists all the free NLP techniques, exercises, and lessons currently on PlanetNLP.com. If this is a little overwhelming then you may prefer to start with my free NLP course, which provides a bit more structure to the many skills and techniques you need to learn to truly master NLP.

NLP Lessons

I have developed the following NLP Lessons in order to allow you to learn the basic elements of NLP to use NLP on yourself. Hopefully these lessons will make the process of learning NLP easier.

Before working with any of the NLP exercises on this site, learn how to change the way you feel about your memories with the NLP Memory Manipulation - Change the Content of your Memories Lesson, and then move on to the NLP Submodalities - Change your Reality NLP Lesson.

NLP Techniques

These free NLP techniques provide the foundation for working with other people using NLP or Hypnosis. As in many areas of life, practice makes perfect. It's a good idea to choose a technique and practice it thoroughly. While it is easier to learn the skills individually, the long term goal is to develop the ability to blend them all together. Eventually you will find that you are able to use these techniques automatically.

NLP Modeling

NLP Modeling, whilst at the heart of NLP, seems to be a skill that many NLP practitioners don’t really have a good grasp of.

Eye Accessing Cues

In NLP, Eye Accessing cues are one of the more controversial subjects - simply because for every NLP practitioner who believes they are a useful tool, there is someone who doesn't believe they work at all.

NLP Rapport Techniques

Rapport is simply about increasing the number of similarities between yourself and a client to allow them to relax and feel that you are like them. So how do you achieve this?

NLP Meta Model

To get to the heart of any problem you have to ask the right questions - the Meta Model gives you the structure to achieve this.

The Milton Model

The Milton Model is the basis for most of the NLP Language patterns. I complied the following articles using my notes from McKenna Breens NLP Practitioner and NLP Master Practitioner courses. These NLP language patterns will provide the foundation for all your hypnotic language skills.

Richard Bandler's method of teaching these language patterns is a mixture of installation and writing out pages of examples. Work with these patterns every day and they become an automatic part of your natural language.

Inverse Meta-Model Patterns

The Milton Model is often considered to be the opposite of the meta-model. This is because the meta-model is designed to take a clients vague language and ask questions to move to a more concrete description and move the client towards a solution, whereas the milton model is based around using vague language to enhance the hypnotic process.

Additional Milton Model Patterns

These additional patterns should be used with the previous patterns to complete you skills:

Presuppositions

Subordinate Clauses of Time, Or, Ordinal Numbers, Awareness Predicates, Adverbs and Adjectives, Commentary Adjectives and Adverbs, Time Verbs and Adverbs

NLP Exercises

The following NLP exercises can be used by yourself or can be used with clients. They are mostly based around submodalities which are covered in the NLP Submodalities - Change your Reality Lesson. These kind of exercises are the bread and butter of many NLP Practitioners toolbox.

Start with your Beliefs

Beliefs underlay many issues that people have. To attempt to resolve an issue such as social phobia or motivation without dealing with the beliefs related to that problem is foolhardy. The following NLP exercises can be used when dealing with any issue to create the right belief structure before working on the issue directly. By destroying any limiting beliefs and generating a few positive ones, many issues will be much easier to resolve.

General NLP Exercises

It's important to understand these exercises before working through them. Most of these exercises are based upon submodalities and build on the areas covered in the NLP Submodalities - Change your Reality Lesson.

NLP Compulsion Blowout

Whether you are a compulsive eater, smoker, or just someone who wants to control a habit, then the NLP Compulsion Blowout is the exercise for you.

NLP Swish Pattern

Replace the un resourceful representations that gets in they way of you achieving what you want, with more resourceful ones.

Confidence Building Exercises

Confidence is a very common problem. These two exercises can help hugely along with the exercises above to develop a much more relaxed and confident persona.

NLP Time Line Techniques

Timelines are a very common element in NLP. A Timeline is simply the way in which we internally layout events from our past and future so that we can organize them. Discovering your own time line shows you how to discover your own timeline prior to working with these exercises.

There are a couple of other skills required to perform these exercises optimally. Read Create Powerful Anchors using NLP and NLP states so that you can create the strong states and anchors required by these exercises.

Miscellaneous Exercises

These exercises, while not strictly NLP exercises are ones that I have found useful over the years.
